MONA is the Museum of Old and New Art located in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It’s inspiring, kickass and breathtaking all mixed up in a high speed blender.
I have been to many top art galleries around the world including NYC Guggenheim, Bilbao Guggenheim in Spain, The Tate in London and many others but I believe David Walsh has done something super special at MONA.
While the architecture is mind blowing both inside and out, it’s the art that steals the show.
Some have called his collection confronting, for example a piece by Greg Taylor (and friends) called ‘Cunts… and other conversations’. Yep, a long wall of plaster cast vaginas hanging side by side.
Confronting? Absolutely not. It’s ingenious creativity – nothing better.
Do yourself a favour and visit MONA, soon.
